Every year, articles, documentaries, celebrations and felicitations take place on Women’s Day. Are we really showcasing women empowerment on this day??
According to Serena Williams-
“The success of every woman should be the inspiration to another. We should raise each other up. Make sure you’re very courageous: be strong, be extremely kind, and above all be humble.”
To my mind, woman should never doubt that she is valuable, strong and deserving of every opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve her dreams. Married or unmarried, it hardly matters. It’s about the right to rise and chase one’s set goals.
Women’s day is about enjoying and acknowledging the simple, everyday moments in a woman’s life – whether she is pursuing a career, a mom or studying. This day would mean different for all depending in ones’s experiences and struggles. Women’s Day serves as a reminder of the immense contributions women make every day.
For a girl, Women’s Day is an opportunity to feel celebrated, inspired and empowered, to reflect on both the progress made and the work that still needs to be done for equality. It can be a day to recognize the strength, resilience and unique qualities that a girl possess. It’s a time to remind her that being a girl is something to be proud of.
For a housewife, it’s about a moment of self-celebration and a time to advocate for broader recognition of the value of domestic unseen labour and the importance of supporting her roles within the family. It’s an opportunity to highlight that the work at home deserves as much respect and recognition as any other form of work.
For a working woman, this day is about celebrating her growth, advocating for continued progress in her journey. It recognizes their juggle in multiple roles at home and professionally.
International Women’s Day is not just a celebration but a call to action—a reminder that there is still much work to be done to achieve true gender equality and justice for women everywhere.
“Break barriers, build futures –Happy Women’s Day!”
